A train journey with fast-changing scenery outside the window!

Among various modes of transport, it is especially loved for its unique charm.

In particular, not just regular trains but special tourist trains are also in operation.

Today, we’ll introduce you to Korea’s tourist trains that will make your trip even more special!

Let's begin😎

The G-Train offers a chance to explore the rich tourist spots along the West Coast, full of tidal flats, islands, and sunsets. It features the world’s first hanok-style ondol heated floor rooms, making it especially popular in winter. The route runs from Yongsan through Yeongdeungpo, Hongseong, and ends in Iksan. This makes it easy to visit various destinations with unique charms, perfect for day trips or short getaways. This train’s highlight is the ondol heated floor rooms, designed for groups from three to six people. These cozy heated rooms allow you to sit or lie down comfortably, especially appreciated in colder months. Besides this special seating, there are foot bath rooms and numerous trick art photo zones, offering fun from the moment you board. Don’t miss the views of rice paddies, fields, and metasequoia tree-lined roads outside your window!

The Chungbuk Yeongdong Gugak & Wine Train offers a journey where you can taste Korean wines and enjoy traditional performances. Each trip provides one bottle of wine per two passengers, with the types of wine changing every run. All wines come from wineries in the Yeongdong region. Besides wine, traditional tea and non-alcoholic beverages are available, so you can enjoy the trip even if you don’t drink wine. The train travels to different destinations each month based on the program, allowing for special trips to unexpected places. For group travelers, there are programs that help design travel itineraries tailored to their purpose and participant characteristics, as well as assist with train routes to the desired destinations. For courses including lunch, dinner, and overnight stays, accommodation is also provided, so you just need to enjoy the journey led by the train! Boarding the event car lets you participate in wine lectures, recreation, and live performances.

Rail Cruise Haerang, true to its name, is a new type of accommodation-style tourist train that combines the concept of a cruise ship sailing on the sea with rail travel. The train offers various room types, including suites, deluxe rooms, family rooms, and standard rooms, accommodating different group sizes. Each room is equipped with beds, sofas, private bathrooms, showers, and TVs, providing all the comforts needed for travel and rest. Whether traveling with family, lovers, or friends, you can relax in a perfectly suited space and enjoy the changing Korean scenery through large windows. Don’t miss the luxury restaurant car and the event lounge car, where special performances and cultural events take place. Its travel courses are divided into themed routes that operate by season and regular routes that explore different regions of Korea—nationwide, eastern, and western—based on the time of year. You can enjoy not only famous tourist attractions in each region but also special meals all in one trip!

The S-Train offers a comfortable way to enjoy the natural scenery and rich culture of southern Korea. Explore Namdo, filled with wide fields, seas, and abundant mudflats offering plenty of attractions! This train operates on two lines: the Jeolla Line from Seoul to Yeosu and the Gyeongjeong Line connecting Jeollanam-do and Gyeongsangnam-do from Gwangju to Busan. Although the traditional tea ceremony experience is currently not available, there are various seating options, including special seats anyone can use in car 2 and tables for four facing each other in car 3, making it easy to choose. Especially, car 4 is equipped with bike racks, making it popular among cyclists. This train pursues a happy and comfortable slow travel experience, offering a special chance to see lesser-known small stations and local residents’ lives!

The Traditional Market Tour Train offers travel courses connecting major traditional markets and regional tourist spots across the country. Since it provides special travel courses linked to markets, it also offers exclusive vouchers for traditional markets or regional products that can be freely used. You can visit carefully selected, specialized traditional markets along with famous local tourist attractions at reasonable prices, making any route very popular. This train operates irregularly with varying routes and schedules depending on the program course, and group reservations can customize routes to preferred regions. Depending on the course, trips are either day trips or 1-night 2-day trips, and accommodation is provided for the overnight trips, so there’s no need to worry. You’ll be able to enjoy a fulfilling day by tasting the local specialties and foods while experiencing a scenic train journey.

The V-Train is a retro-style tourist train that travels through the Baekdudaegan canyon, surrounded by cliffs and rocky mountains. Except for the ceiling, the train is decorated entirely with glass, allowing passengers to enjoy stunning views through large windows. It is an eco-friendly train with no restrooms or heating systems inside the cabins. That’s why in summer, they mainly use fans powered by solar generators instead of air conditioners, and in winter, they use wood-burning stoves. A special memory on this train is roasting sweet potatoes over the wood stove, which is often seen as a unique charm rather than a drawback. While the train sometimes speeds up on certain sections, it also slows down to give passengers plenty of time to appreciate the beautiful scenery. The train stops at small stations like Seungbu Station and Yangwon Station, the real station that inspired the movie "Miracle", allowing passengers to briefly experience peaceful villages and local life.
