Welcoming the new year in Korea with the rising sun

How about welcoming the new year this time in a special way in Korea?

Welcome the very first moments of 2026 in a place filled with romance!

Now, we introduce special places in Korea that will make your New Year even more memorable.

Let's begin😎

Boriam Temple, perched at the summit of Geumsan in Namhae, is a temple where gently flowing ridgelines and sweeping views of the deep blue South Sea unfold before your eyes. Beyond its stunning scenery, the temple is also known for the legend that one heartfelt wish will be granted, making it a place steadily visited by those carrying hopes they wish to fulfill. It is widely recognized as a “Gwaneum sanctuary,” meaning a temple that enshrines Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, believed to listen to and grant people’s wishes. If you have a wish of your own, welcoming the first sunrise of the new year here is highly recommended.
As you watch the rising sun amid the temple’s powerful and majestic atmosphere, take a moment to make a sincere wish from the heart. Reaching the summit is not an easy journey, as the temple sits atop rugged rocks, but each step along the way becomes a time to steady your mind and reflect. In particular, the corner of Geungnakjeon offers a perfect frame capturing both the tiled roof and the vast open landscape, so be sure not to miss the opportunity to take photos at this remarkable spot.

Eros Tarot Cafe is a fortune-telling café with a 30-year tradition, offering in-depth consultations not only on saju but also on fortunes and compatibility. As shamanistic beliefs have recently been featured in various Korean content, saju has also gained attention as an intriguing cultural element for international visitors. Based on a person’s time of birth, saju examines one’s innate life flow, and rather than blindly believing the results, many people visit out of curiosity about the future, especially around the New Year or before important life events.
One of the café’s greatest strengths is that consultations are available with simultaneous interpretation in English and Japanese, making it accessible even for visitors unfamiliar with Korean or saju terminology. Consultations are conducted thoroughly and kindly without strict time limits, and a complimentary follow-up session is offered once within a year of the initial visit, further building trust and satisfaction. Welcome the New Year by experiencing Korea’s traditional fortune-telling culture firsthand.

At “N Grill,” the fine-dining restaurant located at the top of N Seoul Tower, a French-style “New Year Breakfast” is served in two time slots around sunrise (6:50–8:10 AM and 8:30–9:50 AM), with a 360-degree rotating view that allows guests to take in the full panorama of Seoul. Meanwhile, the Korean beef grill restaurant “Hancook” presents a colorful tteok mandu soup set made with rich Hanwoo bone broth, large dumplings, and multicolored rice cakes for a satisfying first meal of the year.
The sunrise package, created to celebrate the Year of the Fire Horse, includes an observatory admission ticket and commemorative items such as red horse rice cakes and a protective charm keyring, available in limited quantities from 6:00 to 9:00 AM at the observatory ticket booth. Reservations are available on a first-come, first-served basis through Trip.com, so be sure to book early if you wish to start the New Year with a memorable breakfast and keepsakes.
