Even in the cold weather, footsteps never stop on the mountains of Seoul.

For those passionate hikers, the Seoul Hiking Tourism Center has prepared a December hiking program.

There is only one course prepared for this month, but you will be able to enjoy it even more fully.

Discover a program where you can protect the environment and also feel the benefits of exercise!

Let's begin😎

The Gwanaksan Plogging Course is an eco-friendly healing course where you can experience plogging for environmental protection while walking along the Gwanaksan Valley Trail. Starting from the Seoul Hiking Tourism Center Gwanaksan branch, you can explore attractive spots on Gwanaksan, including the Gwanaksan Valley Camping Site and the Lake Park. Enjoy the refreshing natural scenery near Gwanaksan and the relaxing atmosphere of the Lake Park.
Plogging is a combination of the Swedish word plocka upp, meaning to pick up, and the English word jogging, referring to the environmental activity of picking up trash while jogging. You can enjoy it while running, walking, cycling, or even swimming, making it applicable to any exercise. Moreover, it is said to provide 1.2 times more exercise effect than simple jogging. By practicing both health and environmental protection at the same time, you will also feel the added joy each time trash is collected!

Course: Seoul Hiking Tourism Center Gwanaksan → Gwanaksan Valley Camping Site → Gwanaksan Lake Park → Fourth Shelter → Samgeori Mineral Spring → Seoul Hiking Tourism Center Gwanaksan
Time: 1 – 4:30PM

Gwanaksan Lake Park is located at the entrance of Gwanaksan and is a beautiful spot where natural scenery blends with a calm artificial lake. In spring, you can enjoy flowers; in summer, lush greenery; in autumn, colorful foliage; and in winter, a peaceful charm, allowing you to experience different seasonal attractions throughout the year. Thanks to this scenery, the park is loved both as a gentle walking path for citizens and as a resting spot before or after hiking on Gwanaksan.
Among the various hiking courses on Gwanaksan, the route passing through this park is the most popular, attracting many visitors. The park features a fountain, waterside stage, wooden bridge, and artificial islands, making it ideal for leisurely strolls while enjoying the view, and the tranquil atmosphere of the small pavilion is particularly impressive. Nearby, there are special spots such as a small forest library and an outdoor botanical garden, where visitors can connect with nature and enjoy healing experiences within the city.

Gwanaksan Valley Trail is a forest path along the Sillim Valley of Gwanaksan, perfect for walking and fully enjoying nature filled with streams and trees. Unlike Gwanaksan’s rugged stone terrain, this trail has a gentle slope, making it relatively easy to enjoy. Starting from Gwanaksan Park, you can walk about 3.2 km along the forest path to Samgeori Mineral Spring, located upstream of Sillim Valley.
As you follow the gentle sound of the valley water, you can fully experience the charm of Gwanaksan’s nature. In summer, lush trees provide shade while the cool valley water refreshes you, and in autumn, the colorful foliage creates a tranquil scenery. In winter, you can best enjoy the quiet sounds of the valley water, making it a perfect opportunity to walk the trail, pick up litter, and calmly soothe your mind.
