The Gongju Culture Night lets you travel back 100 years to Gongju, rich in modern cultural heritage. The Culture Night is a special nighttime program held in regions abundant with national heritage, connecting unique local cultural resources through tours, experiences, performances, and exhibitions. This year’s festival in Gongju is based on the "Gongju City Road of 1926," allowing visitors to vividly explore the city as it was in the 1920s. With eight nighttime themes, the festival offers various programs including performances, exhibitions, food, and accommodations.

Don’t miss the chance to explore meaningful sites like the old Gongju Town Office—built in 1920 and now a museum showcasing Gongju’s modern history—and the Gongju Independence Movement Memorial Hall, established at the main gate of Yeongmyeong School, a key site of the March 1st Movement in Gongju.

The Muju Firefly Festival is a healing getaway to Muju, a place blessed with pristine nature and home to fireflies. This festival is one of Korea’s representative events, where visitors can learn about nature and ecology in Muju, a living habitat for fireflies that only thrive in the cleanest environments. As a festival held in such a pure region, it has become the first local festival to practice ESG management, setting a new standard for eco-friendly celebrations. Organizers provide environmental protection guidelines that all participants can follow, encouraging everyone to join in making the festival green.

The highlight program is the Firefly Mystery Exploration, where visitors can register online in advance for a night tour to observe fireflies in their natural habitat. Other enjoyable activities include the Firefly Star Picnic, which lets you savor Muju’s beautiful night sky, and the Water Splash Festival, perfect for cooling down during the hot summer.

The Pyeongtaek Water Light Festival is Pyeongtaek City’s signature event, celebrating the themes of “water” and “light” at the beautiful Pyeongtaekho Lake. Pyeongtaekho is an artificial lake located between Pyeongtaek in Gyeonggi Province and Asan in Chungcheongnam-do. Thanks to its peaceful atmosphere and well-maintained walking paths, it has become a relaxing spot for both locals and tourists.

The highlight of the festival is a spectacular fireworks show over the tranquil lake, offering a striking contrast to the nearby bustling city. Since the weather is still warm, there’s also a water park where visitors can enjoy pools and water gun fights. This festival is especially meaningful as it is led by local residents, featuring diverse program booths run by small local businesses and dazzling performances by local artists. Additionally, the Mulbit Train operates between the festival site and parking areas, allowing visitors to start their exciting festival journey with a fun train ride without getting tired even before arriving at the event on hot days!
