The Abies koreana is a tree species native to Korea, cherished worldwide as a Christmas tree for its distinctive bluish needles and perfectly balanced pyramidal shape. Its gracefully extending branches and subtle fragrance add to its unique charm. Growing in high-altitude regions, it brings the calm of the forest and fresh mountain air, offering a natural healing experience.

However, due to climate change and habitat loss, its population is gradually declining, putting the species at risk of extinction. The number of Abies koreana trees dying from climate stress has been increasing, especially since 2020. Understanding and protecting these trees, which have brought joy and memories to people, is more important than ever. This festival provides more than just a walk; it offers an opportunity to experience and learn about the beauty and ecological significance of the Abies koreana.

The Walking the Abies koreana Forest Trail, held along the newly developed Abies koreana trail in Inje, Gangwon Province, offers a unique combination of nature-based healing and an exciting rock festival. The Treehundred Café, where the festival takes place, donates all its proceeds to the preservation and maintenance of the forest trail, supporting the conservation of the Abies koreana. After enjoying a rejuvenating walk in the forest, visitors can experience a lively rock festival featuring popular bands, making it a perfect opportunity to let go of stress and everyday worries.

The forest trail walking program allows visitors to experience the charm of the Abies koreana up close. As you walk through the phytoncide-rich forest, your mind will calm, and you’ll feel a special connection with nature. Along the 3.36 km trail, you can enjoy the fresh air and tranquility provided by the Abies koreana, culminating at the Bakdalgochi Observatory, where you can take in panoramic views of Inje. The scents and sights of the forest with every step, and the wide-open scenery at the observatory, offer an unforgettable experience. Your small interest and care can help protect the dwindling Abies koreana, so take the chance to enjoy a unique day immersed in nature!

After the trekking, a lively two-hour rock festival awaits! Enjoy energetic live performances by Crack Shot, Galaxy Express, Romantic Punch, and Kim Bada. Warm up your chilled body from the trek with a hot drink and immerse yourself in this unique forest festival experience that you won’t find anywhere else.
