Samuel Smalls is both a prop shop and a showroom featuring vintage furniture with a mid-century aesthetic. Upon entering, the vibrant colors immediately capture your attention. Samuel Smalls offers a diverse selection of vintage furniture and props, but its standout item is the power strip. This power strip is distinctly different from conventional models, boasting bright, varied colors and a spring-shaped cord reminiscent of an old telephone. Like this unique power strip, the items at Samuel Smalls transform everyday elements of our lives—often overlooked—into something special. The shop is filled with not only interior decor items such as cups, mirrors, and lights, but also an array of furniture including tables, chairs, and speakers, all infused with the distinctive character of this establishment. The selection ranges from elegant pieces that capture the essence of the neighborhood to charming items and even furniture that resembles works of art. Chapter1 thoughtfully curates spaces to enhance the understanding of design, products, and emotions. This store is a pioneering living edit shop that emerged at a time when there were few channels for overseas designer furniture in Korea. It features a variety of international brands, including Artek, Herman Miller, Carl Hansen, and Fritz Hansen. While there are showrooms in several locations, the Seocho showroom stands out as a three-story space filled with an extensive selection, including refurbished and discounted items. Although the price range may be challenging for some, as it is characteristic of high-end furniture stores, visiting Rooming is worthwhile for the opportunity to experience premium products firsthand. Rather than focusing on trendy items, the store emphasizes simplicity and timeless designs, which are hallmarks of its offerings.

Bigsleep is a whimsical place that feels like a scene from a movie or animation. It's a prop shop specializing in glass crafts and exquisite lighting furniture. This establishment, inspired by the concept of a collector's room, offers a variety of vintage products, including unique lighting fixtures, dishes, and cutlery. Since they only open when they have no scheduled events to welcome guests with a warm heart, you can only visit if the timing is right. However, that is what makes this place so special. Rather than maintaining a neat and tidy appearance, the items are arranged in a distinctive harmony throughout the shop, giving visitors the sensation of exploring someone's personal space. While they do have an online shop, experiencing the vintage lighting in person allows you to see if it suits your taste, and simply wandering through this enchanting space is sure to be a delightful experience!

Among the stores featured today, Nice Kitchen is one of the more affordable options, allowing you to browse without feeling financially strained. A highlight of Nice Kitchen is its exquisite mother-of-pearl tableware. The collection includes spoons, forks, butter knives, tea coasters, and plates, all crafted from mother-of-pearl in various designs that showcase the beauty of Korean craftsmanship!

Movement Lab is a lifestyle curation and concept store featuring 4 independent stores and 7 department store locations. Among these, the Hannam branch comes highly recommended, as it offers a diverse selection from the second basement floor to the fourth floor above ground. In this expansive standalone building, you can explore not only a variety of furniture brands but also brand pop-ups, as well as bar and dining options. While browsing the showroom is enjoyable, We particularly recommend visiting during the furniture exhibition organized by Movement Lab. Currently, the exhibition titled What is Your First Chair? is running until April 13th. You can receive personalized chair recommendations through curation or enjoy watching films while seated in a range of different chairs!
