The Yeongdeok Blue Road is a coastal trail spanning approximately 66.5 km across 8 courses, designed to let you fully enjoy the blue waters of the East Sea. Among these, the 4th course, called “Blue Sea,” is the best for experiencing the winter sea. With lighthouses, beaches, and pebble paths, this course is filled with romantic seaside views. Starting on a deck path, it takes you across sandy beaches, mountain trails, and pebble shores, offering a moderately challenging adventure.

Until December 31 this year, the 2025 Yeongdeok Blue Road Stamp Tour is ongoing, where participants can collect 9 stamps to certify their journey. Stamp books can be requested through the official website or picked up at the county office or tourist information centers, and certification is also possible using the ‘WalkOn’ app without a physical stamp book. Each course provides a completion badge, and completing all courses earns you a medal, so take on the challenge!

The Jeongdong-Simgok Badabuchae Trail is a coastal trekking route where you can enjoy the mysterious scenery created by the blue waters of the East Sea and dramatic rock formations. Designated as Natural Monument No. 437, it is Korea’s only coastal terrace where you can observe geological changes from 200–250 million years ago. Connecting Jeongdong Port and Simgok Port, the trail offers a light one-hour trek one way.

Originally used solely for military reconnaissance, it was opened to the public in 2017 and has since become a popular spot for people seeking expansive sea views. With uniquely shaped rocks like Helmet Rock and Fan Rock, as well as an observation tower, visitors can fully enjoy the magical scenery. Except for the stair sections, most of the trail is gentle, allowing for uninterrupted views of the open sea of Gangneung.

Hakdong Mongdol Beach is filled with black pebbles resembling black pearls instead of sand, offering a unique winter seaside view. Unlike other beaches where the waves make the water appear murky due to sand, the pebble beach allows you to see the water clear and transparent. The round, smooth pebbles clatter gently when the waves hit, creating a soothing sound.

While it is a popular swimming spot in summer with laughter and fun, in winter the tranquil atmosphere makes the sound of the pebbles even more vivid. As Korea’s largest pebble beach, the striking combination of black pebbles, blue sea, and surrounding mountains has earned it a spot among Geoje’s Eight Scenic Views. Nearby attractions include the Geoje Panorama Cable Car for views of Nojasan Mountain and the Windy Hill where cliffs meet the sea.
