Seongsu-dong is a unique area where old and new coexist. Trendy and chic restaurants, cafes, and multicultural places now stand where old factories and buildings from the 1960s and 1970s once stood. Seongsu-dong is using its red brick structures to create a new identity for the area rather than eradicating remnants of the past or changing it into a wholly sophisticated environment.

Seongsu-dong is separated into four distinct neighborhoods. First, there's Yeonmujang-gil, which depicts Seongsu; Seongsu Station, which has fresh and secret areas; Ttukseom Station, which has a red brick hamlet; and Seoul Forest, which combines green forests with skyscrapers.

Yeonmujang-gil represents Seongsu-dong. Cafes that opened in the early 2010s have considerably contributed to the current mood of Seongsu-dong. If you continue ahead from the old subway station, you will arrive to Seongsu-dong Café Street and 'Daelim Warehouse', a red brick edifice that represents the neighborhood.

'Daelim Warehouse' is one of those unique locations that feels like you're unlocking a time capsule. It's a unique place that merges the modern side of Seoul with the city's industrial legacy. There are plenty of tables in the large room, as well as sculptures and displays. This is a gallery cafe with one-of-a-kind exhibitions by young artists, and not just the coffee but also the food and drinks on the menu have been carefully considered.

There are numerous elegant restaurants and cafes in Seongsu, but one location that many Korean locals frequent is distinctively Korean. It's the well-known Seongsu Potato Soup. This Seongsu-dong potato soup restaurant boasts the perfect balance of flavors, amounts, and ambience, making it popular among both locals and tourists. Potato soup is a trademark Korean meal recognized for its deep, rich flavor, which is achieved by cooking potatoes, beef, meat broth, and other spices for an extended period of time. This restaurant in Seongsu-dong captures and goes further into this unique flavor.
