Yongdeoksa Temple is renowned as a sacred site for prayer because of its location and shape, which resembles the mouth of a dragon. The cave, now transformed into a mountain shrine, is believed to represent the dragon's mouth, with a large rock in front believed to be Yeouiju. The cave's mystical energy has drawn numerous visitors. Inside, there is a 5.12-meter-tall statue that is truly magnificent to behold. Before starting your ascent of Bukhansan Mountain, take a moment to admire the tranquil beauty of Yongdeoksa Temple and the hidden charm of Bukhansan Mountain!

Yeongbong is the peak from which you can view Insubong, a famous rock climbing spot, from the front. Originally, monuments were erected on Yeongbong to commemorate mountaineers who died while climbing Bukhansan, and the name Yeongbong was given with the meaning of ‘resting place for the souls of mountaineers.’ The memorial has been relocated to the joint memorial near Doseonsa Temple, but please enjoy the beautiful and refreshing scenery while paying your respects to them!

At 836 meters high, Baegundae is one of the tallest peaks of Bukhansan, along with Insubong and Mangyeongdae. The ridge features a broad rock area that can accommodate about 1,000 people, making it an ideal spot to relax and take in the expansive view. Capture a memorable photo at the summit next to the Taegeukgi, the Korean flag, positioned beside the summit stone that blends seamlessly with the peak's natural rock formations. Additionally, the area boasts unique rock formations like Rabbit Rock, resembling a rabbit, and Elephant Rock, resembling an elephant, providing an enjoyable experience as you search for them.

Yongammun is a secret gate located north of Daedongmun in Bukhansanseong Fortress. It is said to have been built in 1711 when the fortress was constructed. Named after its location below Yongam Peak, it serves as the gateway to Ui-dong. Unlike regular castle gates, secret gates are constructed in hidden locations and were reportedly used as covert passages during wartime. The upper section of Yongammun was restored in 1996 after collapsing. The view on the other side visible through Yongammun is quite mysterious, so make sure to capture photos and create lasting memories here!

Daedongmun means the gate on the east side of Bukhansan Mountain. It is the meeting point where most hiking trails converge on the ridge of Bukhansan Mountain. Previously in a dilapidated state with the gate tower destroyed, it has now been fully restored and transformed into the grand and imposing Daedongmun Gate that stands today. Unlike other gates, Daedongmun Gate features a spacious open area within the castle, making it a popular spot for hikers to rest or enjoy a simple meal.

The Jindallae Ridge is a path where azaleas bloom beautifully. The sight of wild azaleas growing along the ridge is stunning. This place, which transforms into a flower path, enhances the hiking experience. If you are planning to climb Bukhansan in April, I hope you will enjoy the azaleas here while leisurely appreciating the afterglow of your hike, as much as you have exhausted your energy. After descending the Jindallae Ridge, return the equipment you rented at the Bukhansan branch of the Seoul Hiking Tourism Center, and take a shower and rest to rejuvenate your tired body from hiking!
