Since Sep 30th of last year, the city of Seoul has permitted dogs to enter a 4.1 km section from the downstream of Hwanggyo Bridge in Cheonggyecheon to the confluence of Jungnangcheon(Cheonggyecheon Estuary). This initiative is currently in a pilot phase, which has been extended until Jun 30th of this year, allowing residents to enjoy this opportunity for an even longer period. Launched in response to citizens’ requests, this project enables dog owners to stroll along the picturesque Cheonggyecheon with their pets. However, strict entry conditions must be observed, including keeping the dog’s leash to a maximum length of 1.5 meters, bringing a waste bag, and cleaning up after your dog. Cheonggyecheon is a beautiful stream where nature and culture converge in the heart of Seoul, yet it was previously the only stream in the city where dogs were prohibited. The section designated for the pilot project features ample space around the walking path and can be connected to nearby streams where dogs are allowed, so feel free to create your own walking route!
