Not every heart feels light, even as the joyful New Year begins for everyone.

Even if you’ve made plans, the path ahead may seem unclear, or it might simply feel overwhelming for no particular reason.

At times like these, instead of forcing yourself, take a moment to pause and calm your mind.

Here are some Korean travel destinations that embrace those quiet emotions.

Let's begin😎

Grim Factory is a drawing café where even those who aren’t skilled at drawing can enjoy a program of their choice. Various materials are available, from acrylics and backdrop painting to oil pastels, so you can pick the style you like. Surrounded by cozy wooden furniture, put on an apron and immerse yourself in the artistic experience. Don’t worry if you don’t have a talent for drawing. The process of focusing and completing your artwork is what truly matters.

While sipping a delicious drink and adding lines and colors, time will fly by before you know it. In addition to drawing, you can also try making a felt doll, creating your own cute character. Wrap the soft felt, add eyes, nose, and accessories, and craft a doll that is uniquely yours. Every time you see your artwork or doll, you’ll be reminded of this healing and relaxing moment.

Ttasum is a place where you can experience enzyme-based hot therapy, using the natural heat generated during the fermentation process as microbes grow. The enzymes, infused with herbs, give off a distinctive herbal scent right from the entrance. To prevent the body from being shocked by the heat, you first go through a half-body and full-body bath before entering the enzyme hot therapy.

You lie down in the enzyme mixture, which feels like soil, with only your face exposed, and during the 15-minute session, you can sweat an amount comparable to one hour of aerobic exercise. After the session, lightly scrubbing your skin with the enzymes enhances its health and glow. Although you sweat a lot, you’ll feel relaxed and refreshed afterward. This therapy also promotes blood circulation and strengthens immunity, making it a natural way to warm up and soothe your stiff body and mind on cold days.

Jincheon Haneuldari Bridge is a 130-meter-long bridge crossing Chopyeong Lake, offering a peaceful spot to enjoy calm surroundings. After parking near the Jincheon Youth Training Center, follow the signs along the deck path and a small circular trail to reach the tranquil waters of Chopyeong Lake. The bridge is stable and doesn’t sway much, so you can cross it slowly while taking in the wide, open scenery on both sides.

Once across, you can head left toward Chorong-gil or right to the hiking trail. Following Chorong-gil leads to other highlights of Chopyeong Lake, such as Mir 309 Bridge and the historic Nongdari Bridge, allowing you to experience the area’s beautiful landscapes. Walking along the deck path, you can observe people kayaking on the river and fish swimming in the water, and many visitors take a moment to relax and enjoy a meditative “water gaze” by the lake.
