Introducing Seoul’s neighborhoods where you can experience the true charm of Korea!

Today’s spot is a neighborhood where you can feel Korea’s traditions within a modern atmosphere.

A place perfect for enjoying a relaxed solo moment or a lively gathering with friends.

Head to Mangwon-dong in Mapo-gu, where you can discover new charms every time you visit!

Let's begin😎

Huwahuwa is one of the must-visit bakeries in Mangwon, especially loved by bread enthusiasts. While it offers unique daily bakes such as salt bread, shokupan, and bagels, its signature item is the bagel sandwich — a sliced bagel filled with rich cream and fruit toppings. Among the most popular are the pistachio cream series and fruit-filled sandwiches, along with special items that include rice cake for a Korean twist.
The menu changes with the season or even daily, so many fans visit regularly to discover new flavors. Due to its immense popularity, the waiting time on weekends can stretch up to 3–4 hours, and spots often close early. However, you can join the waitlist in advance through the CatchTable app or the kiosk in front of the store, allowing you to explore nearby spots while waiting. If possible, arrive before opening time to secure your place in line!

Hwiho Craft Studio is both a craft academy and a studio offering mother-of-pearl inlay one-day classes. Najeonchilgi (Korean mother-of-pearl lacquerware) is a traditional decorative craft that involves cutting thin layers of seashells into various shapes and adhering them to the surface of an object. Participants can choose from a variety of items such as hair ties, brooches, phone grips, hand mirrors, jewelry boxes, rings, keychains, traditional hairpins (binyeo), and miniature tables (soban) to decorate.
Using pre-cut shell pieces shaped like moons, rabbits, or cats, along with other small fragments, you can create your very own design. After sanding the surface to secure the inlays, carefully attach each piece to bring your mother-of-pearl artwork to life. Because the pieces are small and delicate, the process requires focus — but many say it’s a calming and meditative experience. The studio also offers English-friendly classes, making it easy for international visitors to appreciate the elegance of this traditional Korean art.

Goche is a charming little shop that sells handmade jellies packed with real fruit. Their jellies have a chewy and soft texture, made using fruit preserves or purees to capture the natural flavor of the fruit. Since they use the whole fruit, including flesh, peel, and seeds, you may occasionally bite into small pieces of fruit or seeds. Each jelly is carefully air-dried naturally, taking about 3–5 days per piece, creating a healthy and special treat that’s perfect for gifts.
Inside the small shop, a variety of jellies in different flavors, shapes, and colors are on display. You can choose a pouch or container and pay by weight, or purchase pre-packaged sets. Popular items include various fruit jellies and jelly bars, and notably, the Rainbow Gummy Bears, enjoyed by BTS members Jin and J-Hope, have become so popular that they often sell out.
