Introducing Seoul’s neighborhoods where you can experience the true charm of Korea!

Today, continuing from last time, I’ll introduce more of Gongneung’s charming spots.

From cafés that add to Gongneung’s charm to sites full of history!

You’ll be able to make the most of a day in Gongneung.

Let's begin😎

Orrrm is a cozy café in Gongneung, known for its warm wood-toned interior and inviting atmosphere. Reflecting the relaxed and friendly vibe of the neighborhood, it offers a perfect opportunity to experience the charm of Gongneung. While the coffee and drinks, known for their low acidity and nutty flavors, are popular, the real highlight is the impressive variety of desserts. Crafted by a pastry expert who graduated from a Japanese culinary school, the offerings are of exceptional quality.
From salt bread, financiers, and specialty cakes to bagels and sandwiches with various fillings, as well as brunch plates, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. One unique feature of the café is its restroom, which can be accessed through a hidden space behind a wall cupboard. Every detail is thoughtfully designed to provide visitors with a comfortable and relaxing experience, making it an ideal spot for studying or working.

Hwarangdae Railroad Park is a themed space created at Hwarangdae Station, the last simple station on the Gyeongchun Line in Seoul. The Hwarangdae Station building has been transformed into the Hwarangdae History Exhibition, allowing visitors to explore the history of Hwarangdae, while a train-themed café has opened nearby. At the exhibition, visitors can take a journey back in time to the days when the Gyeongchun Line was in operation. The space preserves the station’s original features and includes various props, interactive areas, and a signal device experience room.
Inside the station office, visitors can explore the interior of a train, complete with red seats and a recreated food service cart that used to operate on board. The train-themed café adds a fun twist. Each table is named after a train, and when an order is ready, a model train runs along tracks to deliver the drink directly to the table, offering a uniquely enjoyable experience!

Gongneung Dokkaebi Market is a representative market in Nowon District, offering high-quality goods at affordable prices. Designed along the straight path of the Gyeongchun Line forest trail, the market provides an easy and convenient route for visitors. The story behind the name “Dokkaebi Market” is also unique: after the Gyeongchun Line opened, street vendors would quickly disappear whenever authorities came to inspect, as if a dokkaebi (Korean goblin) had visited, only to return and set up their stalls again once the inspection ended.
Today, it has grown into Nowon’s leading traditional market, featuring over 120 stores where you can find almost anything, as if the dokkaebi’s magic wand had been waved. Various customer services are available, including cart rentals, lockers, umbrella rentals, and photo printing services—look for the signs on each store’s exterior to make use of them.
