Gongneung Forest serves as the welcome center for the Gyeongchun Line Gongneung Forest Trail, acting as a tourist hub that introduces local stories and appealing regional brands. Every month and season, a variety of events are held, offering visitors fresh and enjoyable experiences. The center hosts events designed to both boost the surrounding commercial area and enhance visitor satisfaction, making it a place you can visit with anticipation every time.

By highlighting Gongneung’s charming shops that might otherwise be overlooked, it provides unique experiences while supporting the local community. Programs such as pop-up stores from local brands, lectures, and cooking classes make it more than just an information center, establishing it as a cultural space for both residents and visitors. While you can get updates on various events through Instagram, visiting the center in person before exploring Gongneung is a great way to catch the latest promotions.

The Gyeongchun Line Forest Trail was once an active railway route, now transformed into a charming, nostalgic walking path. The original Gyeongchun Line opened in July 1939 during the Japanese occupation and operated for about 71 years before its closure in December 2010. The abandoned railway was later turned into a park, preserving the memories of the past as a cozy trail filled with sentiment.

Stretching about 6 km from Wolgye-dong to Damteo Village, the trail is especially popular around Gongneung-dong, where cafés and pubs have sprung up. The area is affectionately nicknamed “Gongtral Park”, after New York’s Central Park, due to its lively atmosphere. It even gained more attention when RM of BTS visited the railway park. Take a leisurely stroll along the old tracks and enjoy a peaceful walk side by side with nature.

Pepegrano is a cozy Italian restaurant tucked away in one of Gongneung’s quiet alleys, offering an authentic taste of Italian cuisine. Its warm, inviting atmosphere, clean exterior, and vintage Italian-style interior perfectly complement the neighborhood’s charm. Already beloved by locals, the restaurant’s signature dishes include lasagna and gnocchi.

The lasagna, made with layers of rich ragù sauce, creamy béchamel, and wide sheets of fresh pasta, is so popular that it often sells out. The gnocchi, handmade and served with a cheese-rich sauce infused with a hint of truffle, is another must-try. The restaurant’s namesake dish, Pepegrano, a cream-free fresh pasta carbonara made with house-cured pancetta, showcases the chef’s care and craftsmanship. With its calm atmosphere, friendly service, and high-quality dishes, Pepegrano offers a dining experience that leaves guests deeply satisfied.
